Thor has been enamored by the sweet science of boxing for over 25 years. He also states that “boxing is an aerobic and anaerobic dance with constantly changing tempos that is like an unpredictable jazz concert.”
After playing football in high school and college, Thor trained for amateur boxing under professional tutelage in Kingston, NY under Brian Demorest. Other trainers he worked with also coached Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Billy Costello and Tracy Harris Patterson. Thor later went on to coach aspiring students at various training facilities in the Hudson Valley of NY, Denver, CO and Palm Beach County here in Florida. Recently, he has worked intensively with Coach Richard Santiago of World Class Boxing in Fort Pierce, FL.
He has also taught his own version of anger management through boxing that instills confidence and focus with anyone willing to challenge themselves. He has taught these techniques at rehabilitation clinics here in Florida and has also worked with empowering victims of assault and other traumas. Thor’s numbered boxing sequences that have been adopted by Cus D’amato’s boxing by numbers, has been proven to slow the progression of Parkinson's disease and fight Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
“Boxing is not just about being more fit, it’s also about having disciplined mind focus. It’s about weathering a storm and being more confident with our fast decisions. Boxing creates channels of top physical conditioning but can also lift the clouds off a burdened mind.”
